Dean has had experience in the motel business since an early age.  His parents bought a seasonal place in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when he was 13. Eventually, Dean and his brother operated the motel for 10 years before selling and moving on to pursue other interests.  He has spent time in various areas exploring different directions, and one of those included working overseas.

Boram and Dean met while teaching English in Ansan, South Korea.  They met through a mutual friend who was also teaching abroad and working at Boram's School.  They talked about running a business together constantly and were eager to finish their contracts in order to return to the US.  Once they returned, they stayed in Jackson Hole WY and worked at a Bed and Breakfast Deans mother owned while they looked for opportunities.  They spent a year in Jackson until they decided to move east.  Their searching took them all over but finally ended here in Chimney Rock NC.

They feel comfortable in this area and are grateful to be surrounded by such friendly neighbors.  They look forward to many happy years here.
